FAQs

Who benefits from the money raised through LWPTea Parties?

The money you raise goes into our general fund, which provides support for preachers, student preachers, worship and church leaders and bible teachers. We provide grants for study, such as undergraduate theological courses, and course materials used in study and training for ministry.

Where can I find out more about how the money is used?

Head to our website www.lwpt.co.uk to find out more about how we use funds. You’ll find information about LWPT Alumni, people who have received financial support from us. Read the stories about their journeys to and through ministry and the impact they have made to their church and community.

How do I promote my LWPTea Party

Our Host’s Pack includes an easy-to-follow marketing plan and timeline. We also provide all the promotional materials you’ll need such as email headers, posters, invitations and images for social media.

TIP = start with your friends and family and ask them to help spread the word.

How do I organise the catering?

We find that asking friends and family to lend equipment meets the needs of a home-held party. If doing a wider-scale event, ask if your church has an urn for hot water to make life easier.
Home-made cakes and biscuits go down best. Ask for donations in good time for delivery the day before. Shop-bought is fine too and people know the main aim is to raise funds.

Do I need to consider food regulations?

Food standards regulations or the UK Food Information Amendment do not apply to members of the public or an organisation as the "host", which invites the public to donate goods i.e. food

You can find out more at Food Standards Agency (FSA) website www.food.gov.uk

TIP – keep on top of clearing away as the event progresses to make sure new arrivals always have somewhere welcoming to sit down.

How much do I charge for drinks and food?

Again, people know it’s a fundraising event, so don’t be shy on your pricing. Home-made is really appreciated and people are willing to pay more.

How long should the event last?

Two to three hours should be enough time to make sure there’s a big enough window for as many as possible to attend and ensure there’s always a big enough crowd to create that social atmosphere.

TIP
– introduce singles to others as they arrive

How do I decorate the room?

As a host you’ll be able to download everything you need to brand your event. Posters, Signage, Bunting, Bucket branding and Cake flags.

TIP – you could add a few balloons in green and white (LWPT colours)

How do I pay over the funds raised?

As a host you’ll create a JustGiving page where you can promote your LWPTea Party and pay across the funds to LWPT as your nominated charity.

TIP – Always include the link to your JustGiving page in invitations and on your poster. People who can’t attend will still be able to donate online to your event.

How can I maximise my fundraising?

Try to include at least one activity such as a raffle, tombola, bingo or a ‘guess the weight of the cake competition’, where you can charge extra to enter.

TIP – ask friends or family to donate prizes. Let attendees know the exact time any extra activities will take place.

Whom do I contact at LWPT about my event?
